Duct Cleaning and Desilting
Ducting is used to carry telecom, communications and energy cables, protecting the wires underground. However, cable ducts can suffer from similar problems to wastewater pipes, so any damage – such as root ingress or displaced joints – will allow silt, soil, and other debris to enter the duct. A damaged duct may also result in water getting in, which is not an ideal environment for a cable.
It is very important to keep the ducting clean and free of substances that may damage electricals, as damage to those components can be lasting and can cause even more work than our process of duct cleaning and desilting.
Removing silt without damaging the cable inside takes skill. Our engineers use specialist jetting heads to push and pull debris to the nearest manhole chamber. From there, it is vacuumed out, quickly and efficiently, by one of our advanced jet vac tankers.

Fat, Oil and Grease Removal and Disposal
As a registered waste handler with the latest drain maintenance technology, Lanes regularly removes FOG from drains and sewers. Our advanced jetting equipment is used to dislodge the FOG, breaking it down into manageable — and removable — chunks.
We take all FOG waste to registered waste disposal sites and carry out the associated legal documentation on your behalf, so that you continue to meet your environmental management obligations.
Grease Traps
As well as offering advice about appropriate grease traps for your premises and likely level of FOG output, we offer planned preventative maintenance (PPM) contracts for regular maintenance and cleaning grease traps. Just ask for details.
Fatberg Removal

And, being experienced, we remove them with minimum fuss and minimum disruption. Through Lanes Utilities, we worked on the legendary Whitechapel Fatberg, which is a story in itself. In fact some of the 130-tonne monster ‘berg became an exhibit in the Museum of London.
In fact we deal with 400-600 fatberg-related drainage issues every month, so we know exactly what we’re doing when it comes to fatberg excavation.
High Pressure Water Jetting
High pressure jetting is perfect for cutting away and dislodging debris and substances found within, around or attached to a drain, sewer or process pipe. Capable of breaking up everything from rust and scale to resins, chemical residues, paint, concrete and rubble, the jet allows us to remove build up and blockages quickly and efficiently to restore optimum flow back to the pipe.

High Pressure Water Jetting (HPWJ) blasts highly compressed and concentrated pressurised water out of a small nozzle. The resultant water force will cut through virtually anything. Also known in (and out) of the industry as hydro-blasting or water-cutting, HPWJ is employed in a wide range of applications and environments because it is such an effective, powerful and precise tool.
After pipe de-scaling and cleaning has been completed, the team organises the collection and disposal of any waste remaining on-site, to meet all appropriate legislation including relevant paperwork.
