Our History

Take a trip with us down memory lane

32 years in the making

Starting with just one Leeds-based depot, Allan Earnshaw bought what was Lanes for Drains from its founder John Lane, back in 1992.

A brand still remembered today, originally the proud owner of a logo complete with Dessie the dolphin, that one depot has become 20, strategically located across the UK from Aberdeen to Plymouth, to ensure round the clock coverage for customers and clients alike.

A family business through and through, Wayne Earnshaw - CEO, began working with his father Allan for the business in 1993. And has helped transform not only the depot network business, but what is now a group of companies under Lanes Group plc. The UK's largest independent wastewater services provider in the UK. Comprising of specialist subsidiaries, sector-specific support divisions and client-focused utility hubs.

The highly distinctive rubine red branding is hard to miss, made harder by the fact that our fleet is the largest drainage and wastewater fleet in the UK. With a workforce of employees to match. Something we are incredibly proud of. And what makes us unique. Delivering essential services to our local communities, day and night.

Whilst we have grown from strength-to-strength over the last 32 years, we're not finished yet. And promise to continue to serve our communities, providing support and assistance when needed the most.
